Laura & Jonathan's Wedding at St Giles Church & Dodmoor House, Northampton
Photography by Rhi Scotchbrook Photography

Laura and Jonathan's ceremony was a formal church ceremony that took place at St Giles CofE Church, Northampton, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and hops, giving it a slightly autumnal and rustic feel. The flowers were home-grown by Jonathan's mum, Rachel, with some help from family friends, Tom and Jean. Guests were greeted by Jonathan, and his groomsmen upon arrival, and found their seats to await the arrival of Laura and her bridesmaids.
Laura's bridesmaids were dressed in lovely light blue dresses, and lead the way down the aisle one by one ahead of Laura. Laura looked absolutely incredible in her gorgeous dress from Serendipity Brides, which was altered wonderfully by Ann's Angels, and her bouquet of flowers, which were made by Homeland Florist, gave a gorgeous pop of colour. As she walked down the aisle, Jonathan couldn't help but smile as she walked towards him.
The marriage service was full of worship, led by Jonathan's groomsmen as the worship band, and was made very personal to Laura and Jonathan, with family members and friends giving readings and praying for them as they start their married life together. A lovely sermon was given, focussing on three essential aspects of Christian marriage.
Once Laura and Jonathan had said their Christian marriage vows to one another, exchanged wedding rings, shared their first kiss, and signed the marriage register, they officially became husband and wife!
Once the service was finished, Laura and Jonathan made their way up the aisle together, leading the way for the rest of the bridal party as they exited the church. Refreshments were served in the church as guests and bridal party mingled.
Before heading across to Dodmoor House for the drinks reception, a confetti tunnel was formed outside the church doors. Dried rose petal confetti was thrown as Laura and Jonathan made their way through the tunnel to their wedding car, where Jonathan's sister chauffeured them to Dodmoor House (she even wore a chauffeur hat)!
The drinks reception at Dodmoor house had summer garden party vibes, with lawn games such as croquet, and beanbag throwing etc. Once everyone had arrived, group photographs took place, followed by a short time for intimate photographs of the Bride and Groom.
The time came for guests to find their seats for the wedding breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated with hops and wildflowers draped from the ceiling and among the long tables, and wooden rounds with flowers and candles for the centre pieces. The tables also had pots of honey from Rachel and her bees for the wedding favours, for every guest to take home and enjoy. The wedding breakfast itself consisted of a delightful three-course meal, with plenty of wine to go around.
After the meal, speeches were given by the Mother of the Bride, the Groom, and the Best Man. Each and every speech was an absolute pleasure to listen to and hear stories about both Jonathan and Laura and their relationship together.
Once everyone had stuffed tummies and full hearts, they made their way over to the courtyard barn for teas and coffees whilst the room got turned around for the evening celebrations.
Evening guests started to arrive and dusk began to fall over Dodmoor House. As the light continued to drop, sparklers were handed out to all the guests and they formed two lines for Jonathan and Laura to walk through once all the sparklers were lit. It was a lovely atmosphere and kicked off the evening celebration perfectly. It was then time for the cutting of the cake, the first dance, and an evening full of live music and dancing! There was something to suit everyone, great music to dance along to from the live band - The Colts, the more chilled out courtyard barn with chairs and tables for people to mingle, a doughnut wall and burger bar for the peckish, and a football table for those who like a bit of competition. They really had put so much thought into everything - it was a truly special day!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Atkinson!
